Ureteric, or JJ, stent insertion is a procedure available in Windhoek that places a small flexible tube inside the ureter to keep it open and allow urine to drain freely from the kidney to the bladder. It's commonly used when the ureter is blocked or narrowed, often because of a kidney stone, swelling or after certain urological surgery. The stent is usually temporary and is removed once the underlying problem has been treated.
At Eastgate Clinic this procedure is performed in our on-site day theatre, with your GP coordinating referral and follow-up in our rooms. Your doctor will explain how long the stent needs to stay in place.
