Bladder tumour resection, known as TURBT, is a surgical procedure available in Windhoek for the trans-urethral removal of a bladder tumour. It is performed through the urethra without external cuts, allowing the tissue to be removed and examined to confirm what type of growth is present and guide further treatment. Patients are usually referred for TURBT after blood in the urine or imaging findings raise concern about the bladder lining.
At Eastgate Clinic, TURBT is carried out in our on-site day theatre by a visiting urologist, with consultation and follow-up managed by your GP in our rooms. Your doctor will explain what the results mean for your care.
What to expect
- A consultation and initial investigations in our rooms before theatre is arranged

- A short catheter period afterwards is common while the bladder heals
