About this service
Labial reduction surgery, or labiaplasty, is surgical reduction of enlarged labial tissue, and it is available in Windhoek at Eastgate Clinic. Enlarged labia can cause physical discomfort during exercise, sitting, or intercourse, as well as irritation from clothing, and some women also seek this surgery for personal reasons related to comfort and confidence. The procedure reshapes and reduces the labial tissue to relieve these issues.
It is carried out in our on-site day theatre under local or general anaesthesia. Your doctor will discuss your concerns and examine the area before advising on the best surgical approach.
What to expect
- A private consultation where you explain what troubles you and the doctor examines the area
- Local or general anaesthesia depending on your preference and the extent of the reduction
- Excess labial tissue is trimmed and closed with dissolving stitches
- Swelling and tenderness for a couple of weeks, with loose clothing and cool compresses helping
- Advice on hygiene, when to resume exercise and intercourse, and a wound check visit

Frequently asked questions
Is labiaplasty covered by medical aid in Namibia?
It depends on your scheme and on whether the surgery is for physical symptoms such as chafing or pain rather than appearance alone. Some plans do not cover it at all. Ask the clinic before booking so you know where you stand, and private patients are welcome.
How long does it take to heal after labial reduction surgery?
Swelling and tenderness are most noticeable in the first week and gradually ease over a few weeks. Most women are back at a desk job within a few days, but exercise, tight clothing and intercourse are usually put on hold for about six weeks.
Is labial reduction surgery done privately and discreetly?
Yes. Your consultation is with a doctor in a private room, the surgery takes place in our on-site day theatre, and you go home the same day. You are welcome to bring someone with you for support.
