A hysteroscopy uses a fine camera to examine inside the uterus, and it is carried out in Windhoek at Eastgate Clinic's on-site day theatre. The camera, called a hysteroscope, is passed through the cervix into the uterus, giving your doctor a direct view of the uterine lining without any external incisions needed. It is commonly used to investigate abnormal bleeding, recurrent miscarriage or fertility concerns, and can also help identify polyps, fibroids or scarring inside the uterus.

Depending on what is found, some treatment can occasionally be carried out during the same procedure. It is typically done under anaesthesia, and most patients are able to go home the same day once they have recovered.
