A hymenectomy is the surgical opening or removal of the hymen when it is obstructing normal function, such as blocking menstrual flow or causing pain, and it is available in Windhoek at Eastgate Clinic. In some cases the hymen is thicker or more rigid than usual, which can cause pain, block menstrual blood, or make daily life or intercourse uncomfortable, and a hymenectomy corrects this.

The procedure is carried out in our on-site day theatre under general or local anaesthesia. Your doctor will assess your symptoms and examine the area before advising whether a hymenectomy is appropriate.
