A resting 12-lead ECG in Windhoek at Eastgate Clinic is a quick, painless test that records your heart's electrical activity while you lie still, helping your doctor check for a range of heart problems. It is often one of the first tests used to investigate chest pain, palpitations, or breathlessness, and can also form part of a general health check-up. Small sticky electrodes are placed on your chest, arms, and legs to capture the reading, all done comfortably in our rooms.

What to expect
- You undress to the waist in a private room and lie flat on the couch
- Ten electrodes give the twelve views of your heart that make up the recording
- You keep still and breathe normally for a few seconds while the trace prints
- Your doctor reads the trace with you and can provide a copy for a specialist or employer
- An exercise ECG or Holter monitor may be suggested if the resting trace raises questions

The limb electrodes complete the twelve viewing angles that let your doctor look at the heart from different directions. Together with the six chest leads they build the full picture of your heart's electrical activity.
Do I need to undress for a resting 12-lead ECG?
You will need to expose your chest so the electrodes can stick to the skin. A gown or drape is provided, and the recording is done in a private room.
Can I get a copy of my 12-lead ECG?
Yes, a printed or scanned copy of the trace can be given to you or sent to a specialist, insurer or employer if you need it for a medical or fitness assessment.
