A CRP blood test is a point-of-care test done at Eastgate Clinic in Windhoek that measures C-reactive protein, a substance produced by the body when there is inflammation present. Because CRP tends to rise quickly with infection or inflammation, your doctor can use this test to help work out how serious an illness may be, or to track whether treatment is having the intended effect.
A small blood sample is taken in our rooms and the result is generally available quickly, letting your doctor discuss findings and next steps with you in the same appointment.
What to expect
- A finger-prick or small blood sample is run on the CRP analyser in our rooms
- The inflammation level is available within minutes, during your consultation
- Your doctor uses the number to gauge how significant an infection or inflammation is
- A repeat CRP may be done a few days later to check that treatment is working

What does a high CRP level mean?
