24-hour Holter ECG monitoring in Windhoek at Eastgate Clinic uses a small, portable heart monitor that you wear for a full day to record your heart's rhythm during normal daily activity. This test can help your doctor investigate palpitations, dizziness, or an irregular heartbeat that may not show up during a brief in-rooms ECG. The device is fitted in our rooms and worn discreetly under your clothing while you go about your usual routine, before being returned so the recording can be reviewed.

What to expect
- Small electrodes and a pocket-sized recorder are fitted in our rooms, worn under your clothes
- You carry on with normal daily activities but keep the device dry, so no showering or swimming

- You return the next day for removal, and the recording is analysed afterwards
- Your doctor goes through the findings with you at a follow-up appointment

No, the recorder and electrodes must stay dry for the full day. Shower before your fitting appointment, and keep the device on until it is removed in our rooms.
What should I write in the Holter diary?
Note the time of any palpitations, dizziness, chest discomfort or unusual activity such as exercise. Your doctor matches your notes to the recording to see what your heart was doing at that moment.
Why do I need a 24-hour Holter monitor if my ECG was normal?
A resting ECG captures only a few seconds. If your symptoms come and go, a full day of recording during normal activity has a much better chance of catching an irregular rhythm.
